Saddleback Butterflyfish (Chaetodon ephippium)
The Saddleback Butterflyfish is a striking and distinctive species, easily recognized by its pale yellow body, bold black “saddle” patch across the back, and contrasting black eye band. Graceful and active, it brings both elegance and movement to medium to large reef aquariums. Its curious and peaceful nature makes it a favorite among butterflyfish enthusiasts.
Size: Typically grows up to 7 inches in length
Country of Origin: Indo-Pacific region, from the eastern coast of Africa to the central Pacific islands
Latin Name: Chaetodon ephippium

Saddleback Butterflyfish are omnivores, feeding on small invertebrates, coral polyps, and algae in the wild. In captivity, they should be offered a varied diet including high-quality frozen foods, mysis shrimp, and marine algae. They are not considered fully reef safe, as they may nip at soft and stony corals.
