Citron Butterflyfish (Chaetodon citrinellus)
The Citron Butterflyfish is a vibrant and visually striking species, known for its bright yellow body contrasted by a bold black eye band and subtle white accents. Its compact size and graceful swimming behavior make it an attractive addition to medium to large reef aquariums. Active and inquisitive, it adds a splash of color and constant motion to the mid to upper water column.
Size: Typically grows up to 6 inches in length
Country of Origin: Indo-Pacific region, including the Hawaiian Islands, Central Pacific, and parts of Micronesia
Latin Name: Chaetodon citrinellus

Citron Butterflyfish are omnivores, feeding on small invertebrates, coral polyps, and algae in the wild. In captivity, they accept a varied diet of high-quality frozen foods, mysis shrimp, and marine algae. They are not considered fully reef safe, as they may nip at soft and stony corals.
