Description
Bartlett’s Anthias (Pseudanthias bartlettorum)
The female Bartlett’s Anthias is elegant and graceful, displaying softer yet still vibrant coloration compared to the male. Her body features a golden-yellow back that fades into a pinkish hue toward the belly, with a translucent tail and delicate fin edges. Often found schooling peacefully in the mid to upper water column, females add movement and harmony to reef aquariums and play an important social role within anthias groups.
Size: Typically grows up to 3 inches in length
Country of Origin: Western Pacific Ocean, primarily around the Marshall Islands and Palau
Latin Name: Pseudanthias bartlettorum
Care Level: Moderate – thrives in peaceful, well-established aquariums with open swimming areas and gentle water flow
Female Bartlett’s Anthias are planktivores that feed on zooplankton and other fine meaty foods in the wild. In captivity, they should be fed several small meals throughout the day, including mysis shrimp, copepods, and high-quality marine preparations. They are reef safe, making them excellent additions to community reef tanks, especially when kept in groups with a single dominant male.
